With modern online shops, customers expect real-time updates on their purchases. Providing an easy way to track the status of their order not only improves transparency, but also builds trust and enhances the overall customer experience. It can also stop them contacting you to ask if their order has been despatched yet, freeing up your time to concentrate on other things. Ways customers can view their orderVia their accountBluepark sites come with customer accounts built in. These can be set to Required, meaning that there is no guest checkout option, or Optional, which offers the customer the chance to checkout as a guest or create an account, if they wish. If the customer sets up an account, they can access all of their orders, and see the status of them, within their account. Via the Order FinderHowever, customers can also view the status of a specific order at any time via the Order Finder. This is great for guest customers, who don't have an account they can log into. It also means that customers with accounts can quickly check the status of an order, without having to log in. They will simply need to enter their email address and order number to view that specific order. How customers can access the Order FinderIn the customer's order confirmation email, there is a link to the Orders section in the customer's account. Previously, this only allowed customers with accounts to view and track their orders, as the link initially took them to the Sign In page. However, there is now a link within this page called Find Your Order for guest customers, which takes them to the Order Finder. It is also recommended that you add a link to your Footer called something like Track Your Order or Manage Your Order and type in /account/orders/?find=1 into the Destination (URL) field to allow them to access this page directly on your site. Our How to Create Your Footer guide explains how to set up Footer Links. You can change the standard text of the Order Finder page, and the link text in the order confirmation email, within Languages to ensure it matches your brand's language. Our How to change the default text on my site guide explains how to do this. What customers can do in their orderOnce the customer is in their order, they can see each product they've purchased, the quantity they've purchased of each, the price of them, how many have been sent, and what the status is of each one. Here, they'll be able to see straight away if their order is in progress, has been part shipped, has been fully shipped, or if you've set a custom status to it. If you've set up Customer Questions or Returns Requests, the customer will also see the relevant buttons for these too, if they're viewing their order within your time limits. They can click on these to send you a query about their order or do a self-service return.
